Crusty has gone…

Friday, February 23rd, 2007

Thanks to over 70 cm’s (28 in) of snow in the past week the ice crust gone! This weeks powder was appreciated by a cast of locals and a few tourists.

The powder is ripped up however there are stashes out-of-bounds and the groomed is nice and soft.

Cat skiing, snow shoeing or snowmobiling are recommended for those looking for fresh powder.

Have fun!

Nice heavy snow…

The latest fall of wet snow is helping eliminate the old crust. Soft snow and a bit of powder is out there for everyone to play in. Enjoy!

Dust on crust…

Wednesday, February 14th, 2007

I’ve returned to lesser conditions that average following my southern surfing adventure. The white covering looks nice however the crust is there. It’s time to get out your carving skis.

Despite a great opening to the season the Fernie snowpack has fallen below average. See the snowpillow data at:

Take notice of last year’s above average snowfall during this time period. The weather forecast looks promising for the next couple of weeks.

We might get our powder back very soon.
